Job description

Montel News seeks a reporter in Finland to boost our coverage of the energy markets, which is in the middle of a major transition from fossil fuels to renewables.

The position will involve writing stories on the Finnish power and gas market, including news about market drivers, companies in the sector and policy and regulatory developments.

The successful candidate will be able and willing to multi-task and work with news editors and reporters in several locations to produce timely and exclusive copy.

Main skills required:

  • Excellent language skills in Finnish and English. Swedish language skills will be an advantage.

  • Familiarity with energy markets and/or financial journalism will be beneficial but not essential.

  • Some data journalism experience, or at the least an affinity with numbers, is a bonus as our news coverage is highly data-driven.

Key responsibilities:

  • Covering the Finnish energy industry

  • Following Finland’s transition to a carbon-neutral economy

  • Developing contacts and establishing relationships with companies in the energy sector

  • Being up to date with the relevant policy developments at the national and EU level

  • Synthesising complex information quickly

Terms:

The terms of employment will depend on the candidates’ experience and the location of the position. The right candidate will ideally report from Finland, with other locations also possible.
