Merry Christmas from Montel Group! 2021: Our year in review

2021 began with us all still very much adapting to the new normal. Across Europe, we were still unable to travel and meet each other in person following the tightening of coronavirus restrictions during the winter.

As a result, Montel had to change from our normal plans, as have we all, ultimately deciding to take our usual events and meetings online - turning the Energy Days, Modelling Sessions and Green Week into webinars.

We happy to say that this went well, with over 10,000 of you signing up across 25 different webinar sessions! It’s great for us to know that you value our events by signing up in such numbers, so you can be sure we’ll keep them coming for 2022.

Unsurprisingly, building up our online presence has been a real focus this year, culminating in the launch of our new Montel Group website! For the first time, anyone with an interest in Montel is now able to take a look at all of the services we offer in one place.

Whilst most of you reading this will be familiar with our news and data offering, montelgroup.com also gives you a place to look at all of the other businesses across the group, offering energy-related solutions such as data sourcing, forecasting, advisory and risk management. The website also means you can catch up with the latest updates and insights from the Group too.

However, we’ve not become a purely digital company in the space of a year. With the world returning to some sort of normality in summer and autumn, it meant that we could at least get out and about and meet people once again – in the way that so many of you know we love to do.

In October, we attended the Re-Source event in Amsterdam, which was both a welcome chance to catch-up with old friends, as well as make new connections. Whichever of these you are, we look forward to seeing you again in the near future.

For ourselves, we also managed to open up a new IT office in Gothenburg in the second half of this year. This has been an ongoing project for some time, and with the continued growth of the Montel Group, now employing more than 150 people across Europe, our IT department becomes ever more important, so congratulations to all those involved.

Looking ahead to 2022, we have so many more plans and lots of exciting news to bring you, but we can’t share all of it just yet! Top of the list, however, is of course our hope that we can see you all in February at E-World 2022.

We’re already making preparations for ‘the happy stand’ alongside a new innovation for next year, where we’ll be running digital E-World sessions for anyone unable to travel, so no-one has to miss out on the Montel experience.
