We launch DNXMontel, a Joint Venture with media group NHST, offering power market news & data.
Joint Venture with NHST ends and we hire our first news editor in Oslo.
We launch “Montel Internet Service”, pioneering the use of push technology to update market data in real-time. The newsdesk hires reporters in Norway and Finland.
We enter a Joint Venture with German publishers E&M and Trurnit. We also open a Stockholm office.
Montel wins the Microsoft Challenge award for “Most Innovative Business Solution”. We co-launch powernews.org with E&M – Europe’s first English-German news portal for the power markets. We also launch our technical analysis service and organise our first conference.
We enter product and sales cooperation with SMHI – the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute.
The first edition of Montel’s magazine goes to press.
Montel joins Powermonitor GmbH, a project to remotely monitor power plant production. A German district court rules against a claim by one of Germany’s top four producers that the monitoring service qualifies as industrial espionage.
News bureaus open in Finland, France and the UK.
We establish our German subsidiary Montel GmbH, headquartered in Stuttgart.
Montel acquire a minority stake in Slovenian news service Energetika.NET and open a New York bureau.
We enter the Turkish market in partnership with Foreks, a news and financial data firm. A German-language news service from Berlin is also established.
Our coverage of the Polish market begins with the hiring of a new correspondent. Daily Energietag newsletter in German also launched.
Establishment of a new division within Montel to develop services based on AI/machine learning, whilst a French news service from Paris also goes live.
Montel becomes Co-founders of Energy Quantified, buys a majority stake in German risk management company price[IT], and launches a Madrid-based news bureau.
Launch of spot price forecasts based on machine learning techniques.
We exhibit at the E-World industry fair for the 19th consecutive year, hosting 20 co-exhibitors: an all-time high. We also organise 20 events across Europe, bringing together more than 2,000 delegates – a pre-Covid peak.
Our AI division launches plant-specific forecasts for wind and run-of-river plants, as well as inflow to reservoirs – all based on machine learning technology.
We establish an in-house content and marketing division to diversify marketing opportunities for clients throughout Europe, with and additional focus on boosting market penetration in Europe and beyond.
